Three low rise blocks of flats with cantilevered concrete balconies of either hollow bison beam or in-situ reinforced concrete construction, with brickwork balcony walls 100 mm thick.
The existing balconies were in poor condition, with defective brickwork and concrete, and corroding supporting steelwork.
Our client requested the demolition of the balconies and their replacement with reinforced concrete slabs cast onto new structural steelwork, a 225 mm thick brickwork wall installed on the new slab and a mastic asphalt waterproofing system applied to the balcony deck.
